She is of French German, Irish and Scottish descendance. She's of French Irish, German and Scottish descent. Her father John Martin Magenau Jr. was CEO and President of the Jackson Koehler Eagle Brewery in Erie Pennsylvania which had been founded in 1847. The brewery closed in 1978. Jacobs attended the Pittsburgh Playhouse on Saturdays to learn acting lessons. At the age of 8, she began her acting studies. Mt. Lebanon High School in 2000 Jacobs moved to New York City New York to study at in the Juilliard School where she was part of the Drama Division's Group 33. In 2004, she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree.
